Saturday, friends, was a long one… At 10am, we began our day by meeting our friends at Proof on Main at Louisville’s 21c Museum Hotel for brunch. Laughs and memories were shared over mimosas and eggs Benedict before we headed to Churchill Downs to watch the Breeder’s Cup races. After a long day at the track, we headed to Migo for tacos, then took our friends home. A quick trip back to our house gave us just enough time to change into more formal attire before sprinting back downtown to attend the Speed Art Museum’s annual Patron’s Circle party, the Bacchanal.
This year, with an ethereal theme, live music, and a DJ, the Bacchanal proved that it may once again be voted the party of the year in Louisville.
Still somewhat a timid middle schooler when it comes to social functions, I’m always a little scared to step out of my box and go wild with my dress. Instead of the halo-and-wing wearers, the fallen angels bedecked in thorny crowns, and the ones who just arrived almost naked, I found the shimmery and ever-twirly convertible gown from TwoBirds Bridesmaids (via Rent the Runway) was just perfect. Twisted over one shoulder, with dangly earrings and a ponytail, I felt pretty on-point, attire-wise.
We sipped on champagne, I ran into old friends from high school, and just as I thought I was going to have to call it a night and go find after hours nosh, one of the servers from Wiltshire started making midnight rounds with salty French fries and pork belly tacos. Perfect.
Interested in attending next year? The Speed’s Patron’s Circle annual membership starts at just $500 annually for an individual. With perks like private curatorial tours, trips domestic and abroad with members, and an exclusive annual party like this, there’s really no reason not to be part of the fun.
