A happy first day of Winter to you, sweet readers. Here in Louisville, it’s been a relatively chilly season so far, and with Christmas next week, I’m hoping for white, powdery snow everywhere.
To keep me warmer, but to avoid the inevitable giant, poofy Northface parka I have to break out when temperatures drop, I’ve been pairing my favorite trench with a few warmer elements, and the result is one that I feel looks dressy, yet goes comfortably with dark jeans and boots for every day wear.
My collar is raccoon fur from Yudovsky Furriers here in town, but I’ve linked a similar one below. My go-to boots this time of year are from Sperry, believe it or not. The heel is high, but chunky, and the insoles are comfortable, meaning that even when I’m trekking thorough the streets of downtown Chicago or at a football game, I’m not feeling cramped inside.
My Burberry trench is topping a pair of dark denim from Banana Republic, that are stretchy enough to fit a pair of thermal leggings underneath…. For which I’ve been very thankful at the aforementioned freezing football games (I’m looking at you, Purdue versus Ohio State).
Overall, the look feels like one that’s a little fab thanks to the fur collar, but casual enough for every day with the jeans and the Sperry’s. It’s a look that will carry me through until the giant, winter jacket can no longer be avoided, which, if I’m honest, I hope arrives soon.
