Having come home from our Oaks Day travels with something like 600 new bottles of Bourbon, I was itching to try something new cocktail-wise.
B and I consulted our friend Erin down at Red Hog one night for a suggestion or two on how to use a bottle of Willett. The first thing she suggested? Anything with peaches. After a few moments contemplation, she told me to make up a basil and peach smash.
Muddle some basil leaves and a couple slices of peeled, super soft peaches in a shaker. Pour in two ounces of Willett, and three quarter ounce each o lemon juice and simple syrup. Shake with ice, and dump it dirty (aka: don’t strain it) into a waiting tumbler. If you’re feeling fancy, garnish with another sprig of basil.
