I’m thrilled that we’ve finally got some furniture again on our teeny rear patio. Like so many other spots in our home, this small space has gone under some major transitions in the last 5 years. Luckily, though, given it’s small stature, the changes to this space were quick and easy.
When we first moved in, a huge outdoor dining table that could seat 6 was moved out here and imposed itself on the entire space. It was overwhelming, and thanks to the immense amount of flies and mosquitos one can find in Kentucky, we never really had the opportunity to enjoy the space as a dining area… So, the furniture sat outside and we didn’t. A girlfriend was looking for a patio set a few years ago, and we happily gifted it to her.
Our sad little space sat empty- completely empty- for over 3 years, save for our garbage can while I mulled over furniture options. Dining versus lounging? Should I splurge on a set I really love love, or get something a little cheaper to see if we even use the space?
While perusing Target one afternoon, I spotted the Britanna collection from Opalhouse. Black wicker and crisp white cushions looked sharp as can be, and I knew that the slightly contemporary feel would make our patio feel like an extension of our house, which is what I really wanted to see.
The club chairs, cute, tassled pillows from Serena and Lily, and a small faux bois wood stump accent table complete our little setting at the moment, but I have big plans for this almost-Moroccan style space, including a bar cart that doubles as a cover for our basement window well, a coffee table for patio cocktails, and some sort of shade. For now, I’m just happy to have a spot to lounge on sunny afternoons.
