It’s no secret that I love a good hat. Tall and feathered, cocked to one side, looking like a porcupine-covered weapon (a la’ Derby last year), I love all hats. Sadly, though, it seems that wearing overly-wild track-style hats isn’t appropriate for every day… meaning that if I wanted any wort of sun coverage this summer, I’d have to find something a little more tame.
When we travelled to Nashville this Spring, one item on my to-do list was a stop in at Goorin Bros. hats. Just two blocks from our hotel, it was easy to pop in and find a better quality straw fedora than the Target version I’ve been wearing the last few years.
In a crisp, white straw, with an ever crisper black band, their model Big John is sharp as can be. Coincidentally, the name of my great-grandfather was also Big John, and he was never seen without a hat. I tucked an understated feather into the brim, and *poof* my summer headgear arrived.
Worn with a jaunty summer dress, atop a bathing suit when waterside, or topping off a messy bun, jeans, and an every day blouse, a sharp fedora was just what I was looking for.
