I’m a huge believer in the power and prettiness of a front door wreath. My mother hated them- saying they reminded her of funerals. My grandmother went overboard in the days of crafting, having everything from ribbons to tiny fake pumpkins woven into a vine wreath base. I tend to lean a little more classic. There’s almost always a boxwood wreath festooning our front door, and making their way out to the patio when company comes over or during the holidays.
I’ve found that the Smith & Hawken collection at Target offers more than enough options for those of you that may lean a little more classic, like me. While I’m, of course, a huge proponent of the simple look of the boxwood, the other options available are fabulous in their own right.
The Dried Chili Pepper version would be so cute to use when hosting friends for a taco bar, but could stand on its own against a robin’s egg blue door, or at Christmas for a traditional color in an unexpected way.
The Mushroom wreath is gorgeous!! The texture of the undersides of large mushrooms have a gorgeous goldenrod color. I could see this against copper accents on a bright white front door.
The Sola Wood Flower wreath and the Dried Flower version are both so sweet and pretty. I’d bring them indoors, perhaps in a family-style mudroom or against an olive green kitchen door.
Whichever floats your boat the best, any front door wreath is sure to make your home appear more finished, and any threshold more welcoming.
