It’s been a couple of years now since we made any changes to our bedroom. The last time anything shifted in here was the summer of 2017 when we purchased Parachute Home’s linen bedding for warmer months. I’m still a huge fan. Still, seeing as there have always been a couple of things that bugged me about our bedroom decor, I wanted to take this season to make a quick change. As it turns out, one simple shift made a huge difference.
When looking for lighting, just after we moved in, there was a day we made a sprint to buy lamps for every corner of the house. At the time, we just didn’t have the time to wait for any orders to be delivered (only the dining room and kitchen have overhead lights), and my income wasn’t what it needed to be to purchase beautiful lamps. For over 5 years, the discount Garden Ridge lamps and shades we found that day have graced our end tables, offering sufficient light, and looking no more than “just fine.” Still, I’ve been waiting patiently for the day I could drop them at Goodwill and replace them with something with a little more zhush.
I had fallen in love with the Quatrefoil Colored Glass Table Lamp from Williams-Sonoma Home, and quietly stalking it since goodness knows when, until finally WS ran a 20% off promo (like they are right now, BTW), and I had a gift card in my possession, knocking these beauties down a few hundred dollars. While I’m still a little in shock at the price tag, when mixed with our Furniture Liquidators end table and nightstands, our Lowes clearance rack curtains, and my happy $10 dresser lamp from Target, I feel like the dollars even out…. that’s my argument and I’m sticking to it.
At first, the man was slightly off-put by the blush color of the lamps’ glass bases, but over the last few weeks, this pale pink has almost morphed into a neutral. Sitting in our all-greige everything master bedroom, these babies offer just a hint of much needed color. I’m excited to see how the pink transitions into cooler weather alongside our more crisp and layered winter bedding, but for now, next to our casual summer linens, they’re just about perfect.
