We have turned a corner in this renovation, and it’s finally feeling like we’re living in a house!
When I last updated you, the cabinets were being installed as I sat typing. Well, folks, they’re in, and they’re GORGEOUS!! I’m not sure if you can tell from the photo below, but this is a world of difference than where we started when I was swinging a sledgehammer in October. This Friday, the countertops are scheduled to go in, and, soon, a gorgeous bevelled marble subway tile backsplash will live behind the stove. I need to touch up the paint on the ceiling in here (because I made a mistake measuring for where the pendants would go, grrrr…..), but then the pendants will go in, and it’ll feel like we have a truly finished room! I know the counters and sink need a day to cure, but trust me, I will be cooking in here this weekend!
Baseboard has gone in throughout the entire house, but has yet to be painted- we’re still waiting on the missing doors to be installed (I’m being told that’ll happen this Thursday for all but the front door), so fingers crossed that painting is complete within the next week or so. We’re still waiting on the new front door, but I’m being told that we have an estimated arrival date to the installer of next Friday.
New windows were installed throughout the whole house last week, save for in the powder room, which was missing from the order. I took a day to peel off all of the new window stickers and clean them inside and out. It’s crazy how just that small change made an incredible difference to the outside of the house! When the windows went in, the old shutters were removed, and we’ve left them down in preparation for new ones to be installed within the next week or so.
We’re unexpectedly moving full steam ahead with the hall bathroom renovation. The hubs and I picked up our tile this weekend, and there are sconces, a vanity, and bath hardware sitting in the garage just waiting to be installed! While eventually, I’d like to install a glass half wall at the shower, a curtain will work for now. I got in a few beautiful charcoal nudes from Keith Gunderson, and I can’t wait to have one hung in here.
The wallpaper for the Dining Room has arrived, so we can schedule install of all of the wallpaper sometime soon. Here, we’re at the mercy of our wallpaper hanger’s schedule. That’s a step that has to happen in the powder room before the toilet, sink, shade, or hardware can go in. I can’t wait to have a fully functioning bathroom on the first floor!
The sofas for the den are supposed to arrive the first week of April, at which point, we’ll move our tv in there, and a gorgeous old Art Deco mirror that’s been living in our basement for over a decade will be hung over the fireplace in the formal living room.
I know so much is on the docket for the next couple of weeks. The guest room will be finished other than the window treatments (we need to order a shade and hem the curtains), the master is done (all but windows, again). And the powder room, dining room, and kitchen are this close to being 90% complete. I may not post another update, rather we may wait until we have a room 100% ready to reveal, so stay tuned, folks!
