Admittedly, I’m not one to celebrate Valentine’s Day. February is always a hard month for me, so, usually, I just hold my breath for 28 days (or in some cases, 29) and sprint through it. However… I’m a girl who loves flowers, and this time of year, it seems as if every florist brings out the best of their best in preparation for the lovers’ holiday.
One of the most enduring traditions associated with the Valentine’s Day holiday is the history of gifting flowers, and local favorite Bloomed Roots makes gifting easy and beautiful. However, gifting flowers on Valentine’s Day goes beyond the beauty of the blooms; it encapsulates a timeless expression of love, of affection. Flowers have the unique ability to convey emotions that the less wordy among us can often struggle to articulate.
Flowers have always been thought to have different meanings based on their color. Deep red leans to love and passion, while light pink symbolizes sweetness or admiration. Orange blooms usually mean enthusiasm or desire. Ultimately, the meaning of any flower- or any floral arrangement- can vary based on preferences, interpretations, or the context in which they’re given.
While roses are almost always thought of as the quintessential Valentine’s Day flower, the more modern experts diversify their bouquets. Orchids, aramanthus, and ranunculus (my personal favorite) can add drama (I mean, check out the beauty below!), while friendly stems like daisies, stock, and cosmos have a sweeter, more girly vibe.
Of course, flowers are never the only option to hand off in February. Chocolates add a sweet touch to the celebration of love! Seattle Chocolates Truffle Bars make a great gift to friends over a Galentine’s Day lunch, or for a little more substantial of a gift, the Lovers Day Bundle (candle, chocolate, puzzle, and smaller arrangement) makes gifting to your kiddos or to your bestie easy, without stumbling into “romantic.”
