Several years ago, while in the throes of Covid, I started a page on here titled, “City Favorites.” The original idea was to share my favorite local spots in our three favorite cities- Louisville, Chicago, and Palm Springs- while encouraging patronage to smaller businesses in the midst of the pandemic.
It’s no secret that several local spots just couldn’t pull out of the lack of business that Covid meant, so a few of these places have closed their doors, and for some of them, time just changed the way they operated. On the cusp of coming home from both Palm Springs and Chicago in the last couple of weeks, it feels like a good time to re-present these posts. I haven’t deleted any of my original recommendations, but I have edited where needed, and added a few spots in each city.
